The Blue Moon Hotel Newsletter
Season’s greetings to all our friends around the world from Randy Settenbrino, GM of the Blue Moon Hotel:
I’d like to wish a happy, healthy holiday to all of you who have been guests at the Blue Moon Hotel. It has been a remarkable year for us. The Blue Moon was named best boutique hotel in New York by the editorial staff at Citysearch.com. We are still in the running for National Geographic Travelers’ list of best historic hotels in the Western Hemisphere. Presently Conde Nast Traveler Spain has covered the hotel in a major article, and there is more coverage of the hotel on the New York magazine web site. There is also a new article about the hotel forthcoming in the Los Angeles Times. This brings us to a total of 25 major articles in the short time we’ve been open for business. In October, we proudly participated in Open House New York, giving tours to almost 400 people over the course of two days. We’ve also become a classic Lower East Side destination among all the tour operators.
At the Blue Moon we pride ourselves in rising above anonymous service. Our highly motivated staff constantly strives to maintain the highest standard of personal service in a distinctly artistic, cultural and historic environment. Our staff now includes Larry Mallory as new manager and Antonella Iuri as assistant manager. Larry is a published poet, highly cultured, and he truly enjoys the opportunity to meet and serve the hotel’s guests. He has a talent for putting guests at ease; he is always available for any special requests guests may have. Antonella is an accomplished artist. She is fluent in Italian, Spanish, and French. If you need recommendations for fine dining, museums and galleries, and shopping, her knowledge of the city’s many attractions is unsurpassed. We consider ourselves fortunate to have them, along with Olga and Andy, at the hotel.
And now a message from Larry Mallory, our manager:
After an unusually warm autumn it looks as if winter is truly on its way to these parts. We’ve already had our first snowfall – less than an inch, though. Even though the snow may fall and the wind may blow, New York is a fabulous place to visit during the winter holidays. Special events abound to suit every taste – Handel’s Messiah at Carnegie Hall, Tchaikovsky’s Nutcracker Suite at Lincoln Center, the Christmas Show at Radio City Music Hall. Also, at this time of year New York offers the best window shopping in the world. All the major stores display a colorful wonderland of holiday scenes. Altogether, the holidays in New York make for a great experience, not to be missed.
As always, the Blue Moon Hotel remains a warm, cozy and convenient home base for you in the midst of all this winter excitement. During the year we’ve been working hard to make our hotel more energy efficient and environmentally friendly. We now use 100 per cent organic and environmentally safe cleaning products.
In the spirit of the season we’re offering a 20% discount on select room rates during the month of December. Even more, during Christmas week, December 22 through December 26, you can stay with us for a full 50% off our regular rates. Be sure to visit our web site at www.bluemoon-nyc.com to see these special new rates and to take a virtual tour of representative rooms.
We’re also welcoming all our guests with a free glass of wine at check-in. If you purchase a special voucher at our front desk you can have parking at an enclosed garage for the very low price of $20 per day.
Can’t make it to New York for the holidays? You can still take advantage of our special off season rates. They’re in effect from January 3, 2008, through March 15, 2008. Again, you can check out these wonderful savings at our “special packages” page: http://www.bluemoon-nyc.com/packages.php
And there’s even more. Each booking entitles you to a free pass for one at the local gym. This brand new facility is located just around the corner from the hotel.
If you stay with us for two weeks or more in any room, the 8th day is free and we’ll take an additional 10% off each additional day. If you book a Deluxe, Luxury or Quintessential room for seven days, the 8th day is on us. And there’s still that free glass of wine at check in.
If you book a Deluxe room for four days or more we’ll provide free indoor parking each day of your stay and a free manicure and pedicure for one person.
Book a Luxury or Quintessential room for any number of days, and free indoor parking is included for each day. Book one of these rooms for four days or more and you’ll be entitled to the free manicure and pedicure for one and a free bottle of wine as well.
And, finally, there’s our Valentine’s Day special. Stay with us in any room the night of February 14, 2008, and you’ll receive free flowers and a bottle of wine.
We hope we’ll have the opportunity to welcome you all back to the Blue Moon Hotel. If you have questions about these special offers, our environmental program, or anything else, you’ll find someone eager to help you at 212-533-9080. In the meantime, we wish each and every one of you a joyous holiday and a healthy, prosperous New Year.
And now a message from Antonella Iuri, assistant manager:
As an artist who has a strong affinity for architecture, art and culture, it has been my greatest pleasure to lend my services to the five-year art preservation and design project known as the Blue Moon Hotel. This is especially exciting as the hotel takes an important place in the dynamic neighborhood of the Lower East Side. The past few years have seen the advent of a cornucopia of amazing restaurants, clubs and lounges, where you can expect to mingle with choice city residents and even celebrities almost any day or night. The new New Museum on the nearby Bowery is on cutting edge of the New York art scene.
Please allow me to enrich your stay when you come to visit us. I want to share these and all my insider’s secrets to help you have an authentic New York experience. Most often, I am able to approach almost everyone who visits our hotel; however, if I seem busy with another guest, please don’t be shy; make yourself known and tell me what it is that interests you and how I can be of assistance in helping you create a more fulfilling memory.
